HC-ES18 - Cheetah. The cheetah is the world’s fastest land animal, and has been known to reach speeds up to 60 m.p.h. in a short burst. They were the last of the large cats to be bred in captivity; the first successful breeding was at Krefled, Germany in April 1960. Even today it is difficult to find breeding pairs. Cheetahs, unlike most cats that lie in wait for their prey, will stalk and then race after them for considerable distance.
